Denial of Genocide

Sudan and its allies -- Syria, Saudi Arabia, China -- deny the atrocities in Darfur, and attack the members of the mission on Darfur as headed by Jody Williams. UN Watch confronts Sudan and its allies.

It is astonishing that these countries (Sudan, Syria, etc.) can deny the atrocities that are happening in Darfur. It is a denial much like that of the Turkish government that continues to deny the Armenian genocide (1915-1917).
In the same vein, the US has called what is happening in Darfur a genocide, while others have not labeled it as such. In the January 2005 UN report they refer to these events as "crimes against humanity," but do not label it as a "genocide." Here is a CNN article describing the findings in the report:

It seems that you believe that this is a genocide; why?
What will it take for the global community and the UN to label it as such?

I do believe it is a genocide because, as the way it is depicted, there are hundreds of thousands of innocent people being killed because of their ethnicity. With the support of the Sudanese government the Janjaweed is killing mass amounts of its own people everyday. In addition to theories that this is an ethnic cleansing, there have been claims that the conflict is over the land where Darfur is located. And by no means are these actions justified by any laws or agreements.
